Revell/BlackDog Cromwell Mk. IV in 1/72 scale

Post by HamilkarBarkas »

I want to build some more 1/72 scale again because nowadays there are very good aftermarket products available. I tested the BlackDog Hessian tape camouflage conversion kit in oder to add this interesting camo to a Revell Cromwell tank kit. Both kits are excellent, i´m very pleased with the result.
I painted the model with acrylic paints from Revell, the base colour of the tank is Matt65 "bronze green". The camo netting was drybrushed with Matt67 "grey green". For weathering i used a black oil wash to accentuate the detail and MIG pigments for dusting. I discovered that weathering a tank model in small scale is a bit different. To create the dusty look i mixed some dust pigments with MIG pigment fixer and applied like a wash. When dried i applied more pigments like a drybrushing on the wheels and tracks.
All in all a lovely project that was not as time consuming as a 1/35 scale model. Nevertheless the level of detail impresses me.

Great job, sir :)
I love how you kept the weathering at variations on such a small scale.
The camo is awesome!: :thumb1:

Lovely work there! :th:

I do like the occasional 1/72 kit myself (In fact it's what i first did) nice and easy to build, take up a little space and Cheap!!!!

Those Revell 1/72 kits are mostly beautiful the Dragon kits of their scale and this Cromwell looks like a lovely bit of work

As always thanks for sharing your beautiful work, you're an inspiration to me,:

Nice job on the build and finish Michael. 1/72 is definitely the new 1/35! Is the Black Dog hessian set resin? Certainly looks good. :th:

Stunning! Really impressive, excellent quality of your finish and techniques used, all the more impressive when you consider that it is Braille scale!

As usual, more of your amazing work. It looks beautiful and I really like the Hessian tape camo.
