recommend me paint brushes.

a hoy hoy. my first post is gunna be one of those silly questions.

whats the best paint brushes i can purchase.

ive no doubt there isnt a 100% answer to that question, so im just asking for recommendations on a really decent set of paint brushes to purchase, i only have some older ones atm that need replacing so im not fussed spending a little money to get something good that will hopefully last.

either that or link me a thread where this has been answered, i did a search but couldnt really find a thread.

Are you looking for detail brushes for small parts or large brushes for big parts??

Windsor and Newton series 7 are superb brushes, whatever you do make sure you get natural sable brushes like the series 7. I get mine from ebay usually.

W&N series 7 are a joy! Dear, yes, but last for yonks if treated kindly

as with most things yes agreed. but thats a hell of an investment haha.

but as i mentioned im still gunna spend a bit to get something decent. but unless the paintbrushs makes dinner aswell i can live without the series 7

I used those and was really happy with them. Personally I think their quality is comparible with the W&N 7 series.

(the head in my avatar was painted with Rosemary & Co bruhes, don't remember the size though (of the brushes ))

Your dollar, your choice of course. But, as some of the well meant answers were not to your taste, perhaps your original request for advice was a bit misleading..."whats the best paint brushes i can purchase"?

90% of what you paint can be done with cheap brushes so get what you can afford. Get a couple of better quality and higher price brushes for details and figures. But most of all, stop stressing over a hobby and have fun doing it.

haha yeh im not stressing, i ended up just picking up some humbrol brushes from a local hobby shop. that doesnt mean im straight out ignoring what people have recommended. i just had 15 colors rock up in the mail that day to brush paint with and i was eager to get going so i rushed down and grabbed wat i could find.

and just because i asked whats the best doesnt mean im obligated to buy them, i understand the above gentlemans point, and as always with anything theres the overpriced bentley there to be bought that might have that softer leather and flashier wood interior than the model below it but that doesnt mean im going to buy it, just means im asking whats out there so i get a reference point to start from and see what suits my price range so i can get something good (which in the near future i will, or maybe wont) but not over the top that i an average builder and piss poor artist might get no benefit from.

Yeah you need to understand people's views though, you ask the best, people take the time to answer and then you say there to expensive lol usually the best is the most expensive. You wouldn't go into said Bentley dealership ask the cost of one, say it too expensive and then go buy a ford focus.

The more expensive £8 brush will outlast the £2 by over ten times so well worth the initial cost.

i asked what the best was, i got great detailed replies, i took some of those recommendations and had a look around and found them and thanked people for those replies and they really were helpful. it was a good reference as to what the best does cost and i can keep those brands in mind. i didnt dismiss them completely i genuinely took them on board.

i found them however to be too expensive and beyond my price range. i did say i was willing to spend some money to get something decent. but i found those pricetags to just be too much to justify it. im not saying there overpriced for everyone, but in my case they are.

just because u replied saying its the best, doesnt mean im going to go buy it.

**im not just buying brushes atm. ive also just recently bought a compressor, an airbrush, a couple of pretty decent orders of paint/thinners/primers etc (which alot of those choices were based off pauls videos) and that stuff has added up obviously. after all those purchases for a hobby going out again and spending huge amounts on brushes i really dont need at all at this stage just isnt going to happen. yet

Yeah im not all that bothered what you actually buy i gave my advice, what you do is up to you , its the fact your response was IMO a little arsey, hence my post above. Its a very friendly and helpful forum, i just want it to stay that way

I'm having good results with Tamiya HF ultra-fine brushes (I just ordered some more).

From the far east their not expensive, about $10 with shipping.

Another vote for Rosemary & Co, massive range of brushes spanning loads of materials for fantastic prices.

The Series 22 and 33 are the equivalent to W&N Series 7 the difference is the brush tip sizes, I use the series 33, I like the longer tip.
