Dragon JagdTiger

Post by Ozzie21 »

Okay here are some pictures of my first real modelling venture in 30 sumthin years. I was inspired by a you tube video called "Jagdtiger at Iseriohn 1945"
Where 5 Jagdtigers surrender to US forces. On mine you'll notice there is no barrel rest. This part proved no match for the wheels of my chair  Anyway here are the pictures.
Image
Only parts of interest are the Jordi Rubio turned metal barrel and the Fruilmodel tracks. The idlers and sprockets are standard Dragon parts.

I'm thinking now I should have done something with the tow shackles.

Okay I'm here for the criticism so don't hold back. I'm a big boy 6'2 and 115kilos so I won't cry much :(

Right.....criticisms.....

Ok you need to tidy the place up, clean that tv screen, the two blokes drunk (one on the floor the other leaning on the train) need to go home and put your solder away :thumb2:

Jagdtiger looks great though, maybe needs more weathering though :cheers2:

Paul, me and the two blokes were having a great time :cheers2: okay cleaning up won't be fun but I'll do it................... one day. I'll use my big roll solder next time as it's camouflaged.

Charles

That's the nutz Charles!
The only thing that I'd add at this point in your build is a bit of paint and chipping on those shackles, and I'd take out one or two of the links in your tracks on the right hand side. The sag looks cool but it looks like there's one or maybe two too many on that side. The left is excellent. If your idler wheel is still free moving you could just move that instead. It might save some grief.
For your first attempt in 30 years... dude ... you've got serious skills.
:)

Paul's right about those poor buggers... then need to call it a night.
haha.

Awsome looking model mate.
If this is a first time model in 30 years you did good :
Bench:1/35 Tamiya Tiger 1 Mid Production with lots of Aftermarket Stuff
Completed: Vespid 1/72 Comet A10
Shelf: Lots (101 Kits of multiple scales) of Armour + couple of Flappy / Wing Things, found a KV2 95% built and primed four years ago. Plus a few Lego Tech kits, to help restore MoJo

Looks mighty grand to me too - great looking model. Some serious components and stuff on that bench though but. Is that a sound decoder for a loco? :th:

Rob, yes it is. It's for a German BR19 class pacific. I have 26 German loks, about 146 British locos, and about 360 US locos. Plus their associated rolling stock and I do work for other people. One of the reasons I got back into plastic models is I get bored with trains and lose the will to do anything. Two weeks with that JagdTiger and the juices start to flow again.
Here's a picture of the train shed. Its 10.5m x 6.2M fully lined, insulated and air con.
Image
This was taken about 4yrs ago. I don't get much time to work on it as we are separated by about 1000klms, I work in Queensland and the layout is in NSW. Because I work so far away I only get to spend 4 or 5 weeks a year on it, usually only when I take leave. It has progressed a lot since that picture was taken and I can now see the end is near, well the track work will be 90% complete but the scenery will be far from started.

Regards
Charles

Thanks Coen. Having seen some of your builds I still have a long way to go. And me and my drunken mates are quite happy :cheers2: . You should see what happened to the rest of them  Don't use a cellulose nitrate as a base coat, they melted :bash: So sad.

Charles

Like it Paul. You are a bugger for looking into pics

However nice job on the Tiger. But it is to clean like Paul says.
