Ok the darn Eduard's are a bit more than I want to spend. Maybe stick to 1/72 and get PE to boost detail
There are quite a few Hasegawa 1/72 kits any opinions???

I'm not admitting to anything, but I might have an opinion on at least one by Tuesday.

I would personally opt for Fujimi first better fit then the Hasagawa 1:72 scale kits.

Fujimi kits in 1/72nd better than 'Hases'? 'Hase' had a series of all F-4 models (from B up to S) in 1/72 (Phantom Family) and those were superbe kits. Build them all back in the day. They also had some versions aside and those had less detail. I guess those are the ones still offered today. I don't understand why they keep releasing these ones and not the Phantom Family series. They were way much better quality and way more detailed.
Build some Fujimi's too back then and they weren't that great.

I ponied up and got a Hasegawa 1/72 F4E and a set of Fujimi flight deck crew
Coming from Japan, so thought I better get moving on it. So now two Phantoms and two sets of different deck crews
Hope I can eek out some sort of flight deck diorama from all this!!!

What I really want is a 1/48 black bunny but I am ignoring those urges

AIM 7 Sparows (new release) and AIM 9 Sidewinders (new release) Pre-ordered from Eduard.

Scott, no need to be jealous eh, you have got other expenses like the new hobby room and the house around it

If you are impressed by this load of aftermarket check a future installment when I get my GT Resin in that has all the big bits in it..

The new release Eduard ordinance should be out beginning of August so sit back get some and stay tuned.

Rrrrr. I am vacuuming out 4700 sq ft covered in drywall dust floors, walls and ceilings.
But paint is next when we get her cleaned up

Does anyone remember a phantom kit 20+ years old, it had sharks teeth type nose plus "return to Bataan " on it? I think 1:35ish scale but could be wrong, I can't rem the manufacturer. I built it as a teenager and would like to do it again.

my best guess would be to check www.scalemates.com its the largest free online kit database that I know of. But something rings a bell for Tamiya 1:48 scale going by that name in the late 90's

Hope I can actually build a carrier flight deck ....or maybe a Vietnam air base, that would be cool too
Any sources for aftermarket plane parts??? E bay has very little at 1/72 scale

I would rather check Hasegawa's 1/48 kits from those era or even Monogram did have a 1/48 F-4E (they had like a Tour of Duty series/range of kits (jets from the Nam era))

Scott, I'm sort of stuck in limbo here.... On the one hand it sounds like you have buyers remource and an intervention would be called for. On the other hand you are asking about aftermarket stuff. So do I go and go on you or do I grow horns and tempt you with nice aftermarket options

I know I'm bad but from one styrene addict to another, "We need to stick together man"...

For dio bases and backdrops

I think black dog also does the blast barriers found in Vietnam or Thailand during the conflict.

Ok, I compromised and put a low bid on a 1/72 Black Bunny.
Did those bunnies fly off carriers or were they ground based ?? ok I did a bit of google reading...what a cool group to be involved in , The Evaluators

Scott, The Black bunny was the mascot of VX-4 test and evaluation squadron out of Naval Air Station Point Magu California (so land based) although they also did carier based tests of the aircraft sent to them. It's one of those niche squadrons with an exceptional history that unfortunately has closed down by the defense cut backs after the cold war was over... The plane I will be building, flew with a squadron of the USAFE (United Sates Air Force Europe) That was closed down in the year of it's 40 year stationing in The Netherlands.

Got this Hasegawa one in my stash. It's 1/72 scale and cost me 90$ to get it from someone in the US to Belgium.
But you can buy the Rockin Rhino Eduard 1/48 kit which has the Black Bunny as a paint option.

well I'm not too much in jets, always said that should do a Phantom , this is it ...I even thought in one of Eduard kits ...but will go for this one ...seems nice , will be out of the Box in the Japanese colors

Black bunny acquired $39 CAD includes delivery. I thought that was reasonable it is a 1/72 Fujimi F4-S.
Now I will have a 1/72 Tamiya, Fujimi and Hasegawa...so I can try them all out

1/48th Hasegawa ,cant remember Tamiya doing a 1/48th Phantom

Count me in!!! I have on order the Academy 1/72 USN F-4J Phantom II and the Eduard cockpit PE also got the VMFA-451 decal set. I hope I do this good. I'll be using spray cans on the fuselage.

I have no set up for my airbrush at this point, so it is spray cans and hairy brushes for me

Maybe next year, to much on the plate at the moment

Might enter this one with a Fujimi F-4K 1/72 , have all the stuff i need to build it now

I think I know the one you mean, they had one at my LHS and I almost snagged it....dreams of Snoopy dios flew through my mind but I managed to walk myself back, go pick up the paint I came for, and didn't leave with anything I hadn't gone there for in the first place aside from one other kit.

I got the official word from PAUL that the dedicated SIG section on the forum will be opened up around the the second week of September (2 weeks prior to the start). Guy and I are still discussing the prizes and am also in the proces of finding a couple of independent Judges and Terms.

Thanks Scott, Yes we will have fun spraying and brush painting. I'm glad I'm not only one who doesn't have an airbrush set up. I love Snoopy I want to do the samething.

Scott we are getting a dedicated section on the forum in the SIG subsection from the middle of next month somewhere. In that section we will have build and reveal parts that will be the official place for all entries.

This thread on the forum was intended more or less an interest poll sotto speak. But it's getting real un organised here already and we are not even building yet.

I got my new release Eduard coming in this week and next week I'm ordering the GT Resin aftermarket (198,75 USD not bad for what was supposed to be a cheap build ) Now that I compiled the list of what will be needed to make my own entry periode and photo correct.

The printed diobase was looking a bit flat and lifeless so got some Foamboard, Verlinden Airfield Lights and Photo Etch trench drains from Uschi van der Rosten.

All very nice Kits I will be converting a Revell 1:32 German F-4F into a late F-4E from the 32nd FIS based out of Soesterberg until the unit got deactivated in 1994. I will be building it as a tribute to my dad as he was a Liaison Officer between the Dutch and Americans back in the late 60.

I know some other participants are also building aircraft or subjects close to heart, so judging by your avatar I would be tempted to suggest the Weasel for the Ohio National Guard.

Yes, my plan is to do both of the F-4G kits as Idaho Air National Guard aircraft, that is if I can find decals in 1/48 scale for the Hasegawa kit. If I can't find them, I may be able to make a copy of the 1/32 decals and re-scale them to fit the 1/48 kit, about the only one that I will need is the fin stripe for the top of the tail.

For decal options for the 1:48 scale weasel check out http://www.scalemates.com its the most comprehensive kit and aftermarket online database. Printing your own can be a bit tricky I have found when doing my own..

I use Scalemates quite a bit. This is an extremely helpful site to check out reviews and see whats new in our hobby. The only problem is that all of the decal sheets that had these markings have been out of production for several years. I'm sure, that someone out there has a set of these sitting around. Hopefully I can come across a set that somebody is willing to part with that wont cost me a years salary! LOL
