I really wish I could get in on this GB, but work looks like it will get I the way a bit too much. However, the local museum here has a Navy F-4N from VF-154 that I can take as many reference pictures of if any of yall need them. They plane isn't roped off or anything so I can get up close and personal.

For sure. And there's zero penalty for not finishing, it's just a bonus if you do.

I've been wanting to build a F-4 for a long time... So, I just ordered the Hasegawa F-4J kit. Guess I will get into this GB after all! Waiting for this kit to arrive should give me time to clear my bench. Hopefully.

Okay, I'm excited! I even met a F-4 RIO that flew with the German Air Force on Friday. I'll see if I can find him and ask questions to shed some insight about the airframe.

I went to my LHS to see if they had a better 1/48 Phantom in stock. In 1/48 they had two other releases of the original Monogram kit I currently have - the Revell Germany F-4 and a Monogram re-pop. In 1/72, they have the Hasegawa F-4E

Hello all. This is my first post in this forum. I have not built a model in a few years so it is time to try again. I will throw my hat in the ring with Academy's 1/48 F-4B kit #12232. It will probably be SOOB to get my foot wet again. Though already looking through the decal stash as I think I may have some USMC markings for a B Phantom. I am new to this forum stuff so as soon as I can sort out this PhotoBucket stuff I will post starting photos. I look forward to being part of this community.

How cool is that, a Hoser from Moose Jaw!!! Cannot get more Canadian,eh :thumb2:
Some of us are slightly goofy so be prepared to have fun, learn stuff and addictively check in on your and everyone else's build. You will come to love ISM and see a sudden spike in the need for new kits, tools and supplies.
A whole hearted welcome to you, sir :shifty:

Make sure you open a thread in the build section here : http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewforum.php?f=543

and when finished you just open a thread in here : http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewforum.php?f=544 You can post pictures of your finished F-4 in the Reveal thread ;-)

And by the way: Welcome to the ISM forum :thumb1:

Thanks for the warm welcome. Waiting for the camera battery to charge so I can take some pictures. Then I will open a build thread. Spent a couple of hours going through after market bits I have for the F-4. got to remember to walk again before running. Temptation is so nasty. Again glad to be here and share with others.

You'll have plenty of time. No need to rush things. It's not a speed build :P

Sweet, thanks for sharing this info. Maybe you are able to video it and upload it to YouTube for those of us located in other regions or countries of the globe...

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene.

Scott, that is some interesting reading alright :th:. Thanks for sharing it with us. They might have been the first and most trained of the casualties the F-4 took over its long operational life. It just go's to show what hardships test and combat pilots go thru in their pursuit of expanding the envelope and getting records to boost sales. This is leading me to do some more research into the actual number of flight crew(s) that never got to step out of the cockpit : . That number could be vast considering the losses in Vietnam, Yom Kippur War and During the Iran Irak war just to name some of the conflicts in which it was used????

Yes, interesting web site and great article on the F4 which had its issues early on

Lots of info on different aircraft and a pretty good search engine in it, just stumbled on the website by luck

Didn't think to record it. Don't know if they'd of let me if I tried. But I did get a sneaky shot of him discussing how they killed their third mig that day.

Finally made it back to the museum; the back hangar has been closed for awhile.

Photos of the walk around.

Photos of the cockpit cutout they had.

This museum has about every plane the US Navy ever flew. If anyone needs reference shots give me a hollar and I'll make the trip out there.

It seems many people wanna finnish their spook but the end is near.
Some people are into more SIG and GB at the moment.
To not spoil the fun our Spook SIG is extended
SO
The final finnish will be March 1st 2017
2 months extra to finnish your Rhino.

Have fun and I'll keep an eye on this SIG ofcourse

That's good news, I have a lot left to do and don't want to rush it and have a couple of other things I must finish before the end of the year.

Thank you Guy : : I was afraid that I wasn't going to make it. Due to my mojo running away but I have found it now. :D I'm going to be nervous enough doing those decals. OH! itty-bitty decals and that awful itty-bitty ejection seats PE. Then I'm in it for the fun and see if I can finish in time. :D
