Did a bit more last night and got various shades of green on the stowage and the search light.



Then I resprayed the tank with a heavier colour green ( surprise ) and tried some colour modulation with the aim to get it looking faded and looking like it has been in country for a while. I'll add a filter with the varnish later.

Nice work with the paint variation. I bet you can even control the amount of variation with your weathering, dry brushing and pastels too. Though I haven't commented very much lately, I've enjoyed this build string very much. Keep it up digger!

This might be a bit strange viewing it from this angle, but the wheels are on.


Tracks are about done although still wet at the moment.


The commander is content and thinking of a beer it's been a long day.


I do like the way the cast texture has shone through.

The base is in in no mans land atm as I try to figure out the canvas roof. I don't think using paper will cut it with my mediocre skills.

Agree. The colour is looking top notch now. Get those beers in!

That's come along nicely since the last time I had chance to drop in, although I nearly sprayed tea everywhere when I saw the Orangemobile

The green has worked out really well, and the paintwork on the stowage especially is top notch

Looking forward to seeing what you're planning next for the base.

Love the depth and variations of colors, its starting to really look like a complete package. I'm going to lean on this build string when I assemble my AVRE version.

Thanks a lot fella's it's heart warming and gives me a spur along. Probably why it's been giving me the evil eye ever since I started the Camel....been a long time since the last update.

Not really a lot to show , but I did a couple of small things.
However only going to show this effect I managed to get on my home made corrugated iron. For those who don't remember I left it with a silvery grey surface. Today I added a coat of off white pigment well thinned like a wash and got this look.


Pretty stoked with the way it came out. It's like the first stage of corrosion and it starts to get whitish patches.

The other things I worked on are not yet photogenic as it involved a little experimentation working out how I should proceed, but soon to be revealed...

Started on a tree today. It's a lot harder than I thought.



Also added a few items to give a lived in used look. Kerosene lamp, bottle, water container, shovel and a old box.

Ps I only picked up this again cause the camel was giving me the gripes.

It's got a more lived in appearance now.
Rubbish bin added and some more work on the tree. Not a great one , but it adds to the pic and I still have to add foliage when it turns up.

I decided the base looked horrible and in truth I've cut corners with the bases before and never truely liked the result much so I thought about how to improve this one.

So I came up with this idea, not original I'm sure. However it's do able and I might venture into new arena's


With some paint it is even better. I quite like it without any mortar in the brick/block work and it has given it a over all lift. The LED lighting has washed some of the colour from the bricks. They are a actually a bit darker.

I finished my tree. For a first effort creating a tree and trying to replicate the type over there I'm pretty happy with it. If anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears on how on improve it....It's the only way to learn.


I've just got a tiny bit to do around the base and it's done.

yeah ...No squirrels in Vietnam and I didn't have any spare monkeys

I'm glad I spent the time to pretty up the base it does indeed make a difference. I didn't do the bricks as well as is possible...maybe next time the learning curve will be shorter.

Cracking work all through the build and a great finish.

Its a well know fact that British tanks have a boiling vessel for tea making. I wonder, do Aussie tanks have a mini fridge for cooling the XXXX and the Fosters?

No it's usually a more portable Esky strapped on the back, but the Aussie palette has largely moved away from Fosters and now indulges in a wider variety of beers an premixes. We mostly just export it to USA and UK now......

Its true, we do drink a lot of Fozzies over here, but not me. Mind you I have become a bit partial to Fosters Proper Shandy, much more refreshing than the lager and only 3%.

Reminds me very much of when I used to play cricket and a shandy at the end of a hot day was just the ticket.
