great work Paul!! it always amazes me when i use weathering wash.. its such an easy thing to do and it makes a night & day difference in the appearance of the model.. I think your colors are right on the mark.. Of course as you well know once you get the flat coat on the colors will lighten some and really make it look perfect

Cheers fellas

More progress to the 1/48 IL2 tonight, it was matted using alclad flat Klear I then removed the two rear canopies swapping the closed for the open and fixing the rear gunners on the open position too. They were also unmasked, painted up and sprayed the prop, nose cone, bombs, rear mg and these were all glued in place. Added some chipping to the wing leading edges and wing walkway will add more tomorrow and then add some pigments to the plane. :)

Thanks for the comments fellas :cheers2:

So the IL2 is now finished, i just have the truck, 2 more figures and the dio base to work on :eeek: lol

I used an Mig Ammo exhaust weathering set, to add some rust and oil stains the the exhausts themselves and then the black and brown pigments to add some exhaust staining to the fuselage. I also added some pigments to the fuselage to again add tonal variation and add a more worn weathered look. The landing gear was weathered in a similar way tot he exhausts using again a mig ammo landing gear weathering set, which worked quite well although in the pics i can see a touch of pigment that needs dusting off. Finally i added the antenna wires using ez line.

Im happily with it, as usual most of the weathering done with the paintwork, but adding a little more to this build to match the dio

So finally finished the IL2 shturmovik dio I started for coens Kursk gb. With one thing and another I didn't finish the base but managed to finish the IL2, the cargo truck and the 4 figures. I spent the last two days on the base and finished it tonight Happy with it, needs few tweeks here and there but not bad for my first dio in 12 years.

Cracking job Paul, I like it all, and there is nothing wrong with your figure painting, its just that they are fugly Russians, the crates are a nice touch, and the diorama is stacking up nicely
