Hello from my desk ;)

Post by Gnarfotron »

after loocking some realy intresting videos on youtube from ISM-members i have decidet to register here.
in short words: Hamilkar took me here ;)

My modelling career startet as a young boy in east germany. I have build some airplanes and a russian spaceship with the little Juri Gagarin in it. Non of these models have past the time. Somtimes ist more fun to try to destroy things for young boys i think ;) I also testet my skills in building wooden gliders and model railroads.

As teen my interests changed to music (yeah 80's 4 ever "insert headbanging smily here"), motorcycles and the mysterious human beeings called "Girls"

After a long break (finishing first school, learning a profession, reunion of germany, killing time for one year in the Bundeswehr, study civil engineering and finaly starting to work) my first modell was a VW Käfer from Revell and the two motorcycles from the famous german comic "Werner"
The new beginning of building models again was interuptet closly due big private changes. But now its time to make a new start over :)

Nearly ready (waiting for an diorama) are the MAZ 537 with flat bed trailer (Trumpeter) and a T72M1 (Tamiya). In the construction time i have startet to watch youtube videos to learn more about making models in these times. Thats why i am here :)
On the bench are just now one Stug III early from Tamiya (i hate these rubber tracks, those are way to long :x , the rubber tracks from the T72 are hardly short) Also WIP are two Stalinez S65 dozers (one whith cab) with a bunch of after market parts, a russian field kitchen and an BM-13 Katyusha.
In the treasure chest are one T90 from Zvesda with tons of aftermarket parts (this project is on hold because my skills are way to small to beat this monster), a Tiger I early Michael Wittman from Dragon with extra Friul-tracks, one VW-Bus T1 and a Trabant Kombi (my first "car").

Beside the plastic models there are some rc-models i work on to (2 rc power gliders, a modified MAN truck from Tamiya, VW Käfer from Tamiya just to have a Bug again and the VW Buggy also from Tamiya for fun).

Luckily i have also a garage for my 1:1 projects. Some times its better to work on bigger parts than fiddling with small parts with my "Wurstfingers"
I can tell you more about my 1:1 projects if you want but its not scale modelling :)

Thats me in not so short words. I'am pleased to meet you all here and now my english ist lost for today.
Greatings from my desk
Gnarfotron aka Jan (my forename is so short because of poor parents)

PS: Big THX to all the tuber's here for hours of interesting stuff to watch
