Guys,

Any good recommendations for pin washes?

Is it for panel lines or over all color ?

If you are just starting out....

You can use small enamels paints, diluted to the right consistency !!!
same with artist oil paints...

Remember to use a good quality Acrylic clear coat to protect your paint work before hand.

I myself use often pré-made ones for convenience sake... like
Ak interactive or Ammo, Mig and the like... but often use Artist oils....
to vary the sauce....

Just started using citadel "shades" they call 'em.
I like them. Practical and works well over a layer of future/klear

Haven't tried the citadel, but what I use is Indian ink diluted with airbrush thinners, or black ink good quality, thin it very heavy say 2 drops ink 20 drops thinner.
Try it on a test piece first, remember don't brush it every where as it's hard to get off your klear coat when dry.
It has great capillary action and drys a little softer, play around with the mix and you'll find it great for panels and crevices.
As I said test first it's not like a wash.

The rivets on this model were done in this method.

For rivets and panel lines I am envisioning using a really small brush and just a smidge of the mixture ?...as opposed to slopping it everywhere and wiping it off like a traditional wash
You do really need to seal your paint first or the black stays everywhere...ask how I know

Best acrylic gloss coat you should lay down is Alclad Aqua Gloss. Phenomenal stuff, that!

Oil wash Lou, so much easier to use

It's amazing. and it's acrylic, unlike all of their other products. cleans up great with water, usually goes down in one coat.

Just don't do what I did. Buy the alclad klear kote, then start spraying, then realise you bought the Matt not gloss! Lol!

My favourite oils are the mig productions 502 ones, mixed with some odourless mineral spirits you can make you own washes, filters, effects etc

You can also pin wash with Ultimate washes

I like using the Tamiya dark grey pin wash. It oil based and has a very fine applicator.
