Airfix 1:72 Fairey Swordfish Mk.1

Hi All.
Back with something that isn't normally associated with my usual genre of aircraft model. I started this Swordfish last year right before the Strikemaster commission build came along which I have posted in the gallery. Like another member of my club, I too shelved it as it really is an annoying little kit for being over engineered but looks fantastic when built. I decided to make this the year of finishing the those have built kits. So the Swordfish is back on the bench.

At the point of when I put it back in the box, the wings where assembled and the fuselage was mostly complete and was primed up to check for imperfections. I had a minor issue where I got a bit of glue on my finger which had eaten into one of the lower wings, so that was the first thing to deal with. I got all the weapon mounts on and have completed the main camouflage. I used Model Master RLM63 Light Grey for the underside with Tamiya XF-54 Dark Sea Grey and Lightened XF-65 Field grey for the top side of the bottom wings. The top side of the top wings got a blast of Gunze 301 Dark Grey and straight Field Grey. I just need to tidy up the demarcation lines on the top wings and then give the whole thing a gloss coat ready for decals. It should come together fairly quickly now.

Nice job so far mate! That's a plane I'd like to do in a larger scale though....my eyes cannot deal with the strain of anything smaller than 1/48 scale.

Back with a small update on the Swordfish. All 24 decals applied and now sealed with a coat of gloss. Also started on the torpedo and munition trolley.

Hi all.
Sorry this was a very short progress built. This was one of those builds where once I restarted it, I just ran with it and forgot to do photos etc and the next thing I knew it was all together, varnished and done. Feel free to check out the completed builds section for the final reveal.
