Trumpeter 1/35 Canadian Grizzly (Late)

Hi everybody,

This is a kit I started late last year and that I really want to complete next week so I can take it to a scale modelling event.

The kit is really nice, and Eduard's photoetched set really improve the look of the vehicle, specially the turret.



Fit is almost perfect, and most of the challenge was to make the needed changes to place the photoetched parts.





You might be tempted to place the back lights protection until the end, but there's a gap that will need some filling and it's better to glue it early in the build process.



As I told you before, turret is really improved by photo-etched parts, but some significant filling is required.



Smoke dischargers then look like the real thing.



Locks are another cool addition



And the cable cutter took some little tricks to be assembled, but looks great too.



Then, I primed it using AK Interactive black primer, painted it using Vallejo 71.092 Medium Green and applied a Future layer.



But everything was wrong from the beginning. I had a lot of problems applying AK primer, and I got a rough sand like. After so many hours working on this, I just wasn't happy and decided to remove all paint and start again.

I applied a different primer (automotive Dupont primer ) and painted using a 1:1 mix of Vallejo 71.092 Medium Green and 71.025 Dark Yellow to get a lighter shade.



Then Future, decals, Future...



...satin varnish, oil wash and fading to get to this.

As I told you, I wanted to finish this on time for an event held in a nearby city. Well, I was able to finish an attend to the event and I'm very happy because I got a 2nd place.

what happen to the Fouls weather Plexiglass? Did you frosted it on purpose ? if you don't mind me asking?

I soaked it in isopropyl alcohol for a night and then used a stiff brush to remove the paint. I had to glue some parts again, but I was lucky.

I was a side-effect of pre-usting. I should've masked them. I glued them using PVA so I migth try to clean or replace them, but I didn't want to take more risks.
