ISM GB and SIG ideas for 2016

Post by Paul »

Well, it's soon becoming time where We have to work out the GBs & SiGs for 2015 so, I thought I'd throw this open and see what ideas you guys have for GBs & SiGs next year.

This is completely open and can involve any genre, style or scenario of modelling, we're just looking for your input and ideas when we have plenty we'll open up a couple of polls and let you guys decide what our GBs & SiGs will be for 2016.

My idea so far are

Natural metal finish (NMF) any metal finish aircraft P-51, P-47, Mig 21

FAA Fleet Air Arms British Navel Aircraft Post 1960's SIG

A few of the the other guys suggested these

Prototypes GB anything that was working prototype

A Specific Country GB build anything used and in service by that country just like the Japan GB

Utility vehicles GB pick up trucks, transport aircraft etc

Lancaster SIG

Pearl harbour GB

Falklands GB

Eastern european in the 1980's SIG

F-14 tomcat

typhoon

fw190

If you have any suggestions feel free to post them below and the most popular suggestions will enter a poll to win :cheers2:

Some great ideas there. I like the NMF, FAA, Falklands and Bigsea's civil aircraft one.

I'd like to suggest a Malta SIG. Either the WWII siege or the medieval one.

I like the nmf and faa ideas! There's been a fair bit of interest in a race car GB too. I think a single type GB is a great idea as well, might be an idea to have a poll of which subject?

I'd like to do trainer GB. Any vehicle used for training, they usually have cool paint jobs and are sometimes a bit different to the norm.

These are my initial thoughts anyway, I'm sure they'll be some good ideas coming in.

Due to it being the 75 anniversary of the air cadets (ATC). I think aircraft used by any air focres air cadets could be good idea. or if you would like to broaden the the list of aircarft , say all aircraft used as trainers : : :

I was thinking of the Panzer 4 and derivatives, that gives you tanks, Stugs, Jagdpanzer, flak vehicles, Brummbars, nashorns and hummels (if you consider the 3/4 chassis a derivative of the 4) and even more....

These are the ideas i could come up with
Dangerous cat 2 the King Tiger wich i already mentionned before a while ago
A rivals build , not restricted to just military bit with specific race cars from a season or things like Panzer IV vs Sherman
Aslong as you can tell the story behind it
Tank busters , anything designed/used to knock out tanks and armored vehicles
And to be honest i like Seb's "workhorse" idea so i would be up for that

Of the ones mentioned so far I like the Mad Max one, prototypes one and year you were born one.

Suggestions from me are a family history GB, basically something that tells the story of a relative in war time. Cheeky because that's my next build. :D.
A video game GB, a model of something from a video game, past or present.
A "Rekt" GB. This is a term from World of Tanks when someone gets killed horribly, so would be any knocked out or crashed vehicle or plane.

My Ideas sort of borrowed from one gangstar

1:The year you where born
A conflict, some thing first flown, first released , first used or some thing that makes that year memorable

2:float planes from any period as long as it floats and has a prop or a jet engine

Thats it for now I'm sure something else will come too me
I like to know what you think even if it is critique , If you spotted it let me know
Trying to finish what I started, and take part

Just thinking, what about a brand build. What i mean by that is like most things involved in the build (tools, paints, model, glue) all have to be made by the same manufacturer, so say tamiya model, tamiya tools, tamiya paints. Obviously, you could not do this for every tool, like airbrushes, which is why this idea would need further thought to be able to make some actual rules!

a GB that has a or sort of a "Throwback to the past" Build.

Any modern vehicle. aircraft, ship, etc used from 19XX to 2016
what would if look like if it was used in WWII..

for example a M-1 Abrams tank. what would it look like if it was used in the "Battle of the Bulge" or" the Kursk" either by the American, british , Germans or Soviets..
the possibilities are endless. this would take allot of imagination and creativity.

I was just looking at this post Valiant Air Command Museum, Titusville, Florida and had an idea. What if we all build some aircraft that was part of a museum. For example anything that is in the air and space museum. Our collective efforts would be a scale version of that museum. The air and space group build. Imagine everything from bi-planes to the space shuttle would be on the table. Tell me that's not genius

How about we finally have a SiG or GB with strict guidelines?
I've noticed all our gb and sigs are very open. How about one where it's quite restricted for a change...

Example:
~ Out of box only
~ no aftermarket / no scratch build
~ One scale only 1:72 or 1:48 or 1/35
~ brush paint only

Something different with a challenge :th:

I have some ideas to add as well. There are some interesting topics offered so far.
I second the Startrek GB, we had wars and it's time for trek.

For GB's:

Them leg's; Any type of moving construct with legs.
Is it real?; Original vehicles from anime, games and cartoons, they may not exist in the real world.
To boldly go; Real space vehicles/ships used now or in development.

For SIG:?

Gundam-it; Any vehicle or mech from the Gundam iniverse.
Please stand still; Figures of any size or shape.
Bert

On, under and beside the old dining table.
Waiting for the Eye Spy SiG kit to arrive.
Trumpeter 1:350 Prinz Eugen.
Arii Yamato 1:250.
