Old yellowing decals

Post by Joker56 »

Hi folks
I've managed to bag six old Tamiya kits ,all from early mid 70s , tracks appears shot so looking for replacements , also decals yellow tinge to carrier film , I know I can place them in a window for a time to let the UV bleach them , question is should I varnish coat them first or after window treatment

I've never put anything one them when I bleach them bud.
I just stick'um in the window for a day or so them use them on the model like usual.
Gloss the surface of the model, add the decal, seal the decal in win more gloss.
That's all I do.

Window has worked for me, alternatively, since it's the UV light doing the work you could get one of those UV lamps off Ebay that are used to set that new fangled gel nail polish...only a few bucks and would work a lot quicker.
