Storch Down

Post by Novorus »

Well for the second item on the bench. Been on going for a while now.

I was looking through some images on the internet and came across this little beauty and thought that I had something i could use in the stash to do something like it. So this picture was just an inspiration.

Image

so then came a few more pictures to help me out with this.

Image

Image

so got this in the post and with whats in the stash could be interesting...

That is some damn good flying if you can land the nose of your plane through a window
Even when it is a small plane like the Storch
But you made me curioua as to what your idea will be so i will be following this
Good luck with the build

Really looking forward to watching this one. Been reading Anthony Beevor's "Stalingrad" and there's a section in there about Major Reichel who in June 1942 crashed his Storch 3 miles behind Russian lines with all the plans "Case Blue" in his posession. I do 1/35 skirmish gaming and I thought a crashed Storch would make a great idea for an Eastern Front objective! Didn't even know you could get a 1/35 one, I thought 1/32 was all there was....

Hope it goes well, will be watching this with interest :)

I was aware of the crash of Major Reichel but unsure of the facts, so this build will be mainly from my own imagination.

So I started with the building as needs to be right, but what have chosen is a little of the wall. ...

Image

Image

As I said maybe just a little bigger than needed but needing something inside and was amazed at the price of the goodies i may need, so off to starting looking at scratch building

Coming on well mate. Neat idea as well. Doing crashed aircraft/wrecked vehicles are always harder than doing them normally. Good luck!

Mikey this has been a real push on any skills I thought I had and as long as I'm not distracted, the next two days will be full on the move my builds forward.

This has been a long build so far and I keep making it harder as I want the detail right. :bash:

Got some great figures coming from Russia in the next few days I hope to make this truly something a little different. May even start getting the 'Storch' out to play.... :violin:

You are completely nuts dude
The bad part is that i am getting inspired for my current dio
It will be very different from this one but i also plan on doing a lot of scratch building work for the building and it's interior
Mainly because the stuff you can buy for it is pretty expensive
Anyway
Keep up the good work

Hi Novorus,

This is going to be an interesting diorama once finished. I'm just wondering where the Fieseler Storch is going to be "parked". Looking closely at the damage on the building and in the photo's it seems a bit off some how.. Nice work on the scratch built interior by the way.

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene.

Paul, the reference pictures are for the possible damage to the "Storch" the idea is all a possible or imagined event. Artist licence if you will. Though the first picture may well of been a lot easier build

Thanks for you comments about the interior, I've learnt a lot as I have gone along and as always so much I would do different if done again..... :bash:

Lol, yer I'm still going on this. Life has jump in front of the train so to speak, so bench time is hard to find and the mojo is taken a big hit. Then to boot managed to kill my only airbrush which gone me down too.

But hey, on the positive I think I'm ready to roll with the prep. I'm not sure I have enough cobbles cut and ready but strangely very relaxing making them.

Still Lysus grateful that your still dropping in.

Heh, yeah when you have a large, time consuming project the best thing is to jump in. Once you get a rhythm going it's kind of zen. And hey, we've all been there for time and mojo. Mine took a 20 year hit...

I dunno about Britain, but that seems like a standard road in the US. Toss some pebbles in it and call it "paved."

Excellent work on the curbs and drain.
