Magazines !!

Post by burnie43 »

Morning peeps
I have been doing a wee bit of re-organizing of the man cave / tip and I came across my stash of model magazines ....... a number of years ago I had come up with the brilliant and fool hardy idea that I would start some files on the articles ( it's really just the pics tho !!) that get my juices running...so I ripped /cut out my favourites, put them in plastic sleeves and into files marked...German....allies...middle eastern...Russian..etc
Now.....I am world famous ( well in my family at least ) for never fully finishing things and this idea I'm afraid seems to be no different !!
Boxes of page cuttings . empty polly pockets and magazines are still there....and they still get my juices a flowing !!
So here's my point........
After many years of buying model magazines ( which I have to admit that I haven't done for months now ) I have come to realize that I mostly only really look at the pictures and the ^ what's new sections ^ ! ( mostly !)
I have tried looking at articles on cyber space but nope....it's just not the same as a good flick through the pages whilst in the bath or on the throne !!
ISM excluded from this off course !!! as I just love the step by step pics and videos !!
Anyone else do magazines ??
Cheers
Mark :jd: :jd: :jd:

I used to buy Guitarist magazine, had them all from the very first one in '84, and that many mags take up a lot of space. Then one day I looked at them and wondered why I saved magazines that I never looked at again, so they went on e bay, garnered no interest, tried to give them away again with no interest so they went in the skip. Of course it can't have been more than a few days later when someone said 'You've thrown away thirty years worth of Guitarist?!! I would have taken those off you.'..

The only mag I get now is Flypast, as soon as I've read it it goes to my mate.

As you get older and you deal with sorting out parent's estates and belongings etc when they die you realise that you don't want your own kids to have the job of sorting through decades of collected crap basically. So we're sort of on a mission to only have stuff in the house that we use or has sentimental value, and even the sentimental value stuff has to be really sentimental. We've gone through our photo collection and binned thousands of photos this year.
Regards, Dave.

I still get mags, if only for something to read on the throne, i know too many people who have dropped their phone down the throne to risk that mistake.
John, whats on my bench? Usually a mess and a couple of different models a week.
My motto? I'm not lazy, just energy efficient.
