Revell Star Wars Master Series - RANT

Post by Stokesy44 »

Greetings all

I'm sure all you Sci-Fi guys out there know Revell has acquired the old Fine Molds Star Wars kits and is reboxing them for release as a 'master series'. Included is the famous 900 part 1/72 Falcon. Also in the series are the 1/48 X-Wing and TIE Fighter offerings.

But here's the rub. If you go to their website and try and buy them you get all the way to the shipping section and find that they don't ship to the UK!!!! :wall:

Perhaps I'm being stupid (I've got previous where 'stupid' is concerned) but I thought Revell had the European licence for Star Wars kits. Last time I checked we're still part of Europe (no politics please) so this is a real kicker. You can get all the other releases on Amazon but the 3 in the master series are off limits. In fact if you check the shipping note on the Revell website you'll find they hardly ship the master series kits anywhere. :violin:

I managed to get the Falcon from Ebay Canada but it cost an arm and a leg and customs held it till I paid VAT but I had hoped the other kits would ship. I just don't get it, what is a European licence for if it doesn't ship to Europe? It doesn't eve ship to France for f**** sake! Surely you could just walk it to the border and throw it over the fence.

Makes you almost wish for a time when the Germans were quite happy to go to other countries - Lol.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

It seems that Revell USA has the license for these FineMold re-releases and are atm limiting their release to North-America.

Been a lot to do about the licensing and the area's they are limited to, Bandai has the same with their kits only being for the Asian market. And seems that, even though Revell Germany and Revell US are the same company, there is a difference here for these kits.

Like you said, importing is an option, but when it gets searched and taxed it becomes a very expensive purchase.
Sven.

We should set up a network of modelers that can help ship stuff back and forth to each other. You order something and have it shipped to someone here. They then ping you when they receive it and let you know the shipping costs to send it to you there. And vice a versa. But that is just a suggestion.
