Best 1/35 leopard kit

Right seeing as I've never done any modern armor before and I like the leopard, what the best a5/6 kit you have built or is reputed to be the best.

Looking at tamiya and hobbyboss at the moment. The hobby boss seems the winner so far as it cheaper and appears to have more in the box (PE etc) but I hear the Tamiya is the better kit.

I have never heard bad things about the Revell kit, their German vehicles are, understandably, usually very good. However I know their (now sadly out of production it would seem) Pzh2000 kit was rather "soft" on the details, and so I would assume their Leo 2A6 might be similar.

Yeah ive looked on ebay Jan, thats where i saw the hobby boss for £20 ish delivered. Im not a fan of revell kits either, but i may have a look around.

by far ! the A5 or A6 from Tamiya is top notch! Easy and well detailed !
would buy another one in a heartbeat ! if they were not 75$ ea. I would get a small Photo etch detail set of it... just to boost the Grills and that's about it.... a fine model OOB !

Revell kits have a nasty Upper hull (deck) ((side plate issue)) that is hard to fill around the said Panel or Louvers! on the right side ! I don't know why they have done it that way ??? No other kits of he A5 are like that ? beside the Italeri which is the Revell or is it the opposite ?

The Hobby boss is good but I find them over engineered ! and the Turret baskets... Are not lining up ... and rub
against the Deck... which is wrong ! Teething problems but none of those issues are present on the Tamiya !

just shop around ! to get the best price you can! plz don't pay 75$ for the Tamiya... but I would still get a Tamiya.... if I could find it for 40$ or less !

Cheers Norm, the tamiya seems to be around the £40 mark which is about $64, ill have a look around and see if i can find it cheaper.

Cheers fellas, just a T-90 (Meng i reckon) and challenger (is the tamiya the best) and im set up with my fav modern tanks.

Paul I beleive the Challenger 2 by Tamiya is the best kit available. Trumpeter do a few versions, but apparently the detail can be a little basic compared to the Tamiya one, and there is a touch of a fit issue with the tracks on the drive sprocket.

Depends what version you want to do, the Tamiya one is the desertised version, and I had to get side skirts from Russ to allow me to make the BATUS version.

Yeah I wouldn't want the desert version, are there aftermarket side skirts available?

I liked the Revell Leopard 2 A6M a lot, it was easy to build and looks great. I assume the Tamiya one is better but it costs more than twice as much as the Revell kit. The green plastic from those kits is a bit softer and kind of "sucks up" detail for some reason but anyway, 30€ for such a kit is alright.
I have seen how the assembly of the Hobby Boss Leo works, its good apart from the turret which is one single mess. The kit is damn cheap so it has its shortcomings.

Thats my Revell Leopard 2 A6M built out of box. One thing i would improve are the turret baskets but apart from that is very nice.
