Brown Green Paint

Post by Augustus »

I've got a call out for Brown Green paint and no colour pics to go by, just my imagination. I can find Green Brown but no Brown Green! Any ideas guys?

I've just re-read this and it sounds a bit naff, but with other green/brown/khaki shades involved I don't want an identical one.

It was only a small part, have mixed my own, British Brown Service Drab and a touch of Forest Green. The green both added the green colour and also darkened it.

Good question Johnny.....I've been looking for a good colour for british uniforms as I'll have a few to paint soon but I can't (yet) find a good colour to use, as the painting guides on the kits aren't convincing me after seeing pictures of the real things. I'll give your mix a try mate :th:

I want it for mantlet on a Russian tank (not that that makes too much difference) , I'm not sure it would be apt for British uniforms, but have a play. But now you've whetted my appetite as to what you might be up to to.

As I said Pete I can find a ready made green brown but not brown green, is there a difference?? My head tells me that the first colour named would be the predominant colour. But it's not important I've made a suitable mix. Cheers anyway.

Tamiya has a greenish/brown colour (XF-73) and a brownish/green (XF-72) meant for modern Japanese armour. Maybe one of those will suite the need?
