If being a styrene addict wasn't enough, I've decided to become a copperhead, and wire all the radios to this command halftrack. The wiring wasn't all that bad. Actually less of a problem than the actual build, which required some heat forming to reshape some warping

Time passes pretty fast, especially when your travelling and bogged down with a respiratory infection Alas, I slowly managed to make progress on my command half track. Still have plenty of more weathering and highlighting, but I wanted to let you all know that it is coming along well!

This was my first time ever using Archer dry transfers. I was a little intimidated at first. I just sort of left them sit on the shelf and collect dust. This is not good. I bolstered myself and prepared myself for what I thought was going to be a forlorn hope. Silly me, it was nothing on the other side. I found them to go on really well. A bit fiddly at times, but nothing to get worked up over.


If I ever make a similar kit again (most likely) I will trim off the raised detail of the instrument panels. This will make applying the transfers even eaiser. I left the panel left of the drive wheel blank as it was quite difficult to get to. Oh well, next time


Aaah. . . Nothing like a good seat to sit on. I improved it by scribing wood grain with my blade. Probably could have done a little sanding. Ah, a few splinters. After a base coat of dark yellow and a gloss coat, I gave it a heavy wash of burnt umber oil.


Radio went through quite a heavy overhaul, and I haven't installed the wires yet. You can just see the sockets that I installed from aluminum tubing. I drilled out the meter gauges and glued some styrene for the backing.


The interior still has a bit more detail work. Need to think about what I am going to put into the storage bins once installed. Panzerfausts and other fireworks, I guess.

Looks good dude. I made a half track once as a youngster, and quite keen to give one a go again. They are almost the perfect for adding lots of detail too, but without it being so much you go mad!

I've not used those dry transfers myself, they look good though

I've used Archers transfers a lot. I love them, they're delicate as hell though so it's easy to rip them. They're also one shots. So there's no moving them around after you apply them.

I'm making the mad dash this week to finish this model, as I have a model show to attend this weekend. It is my hope to finish in time. I don't like to rush models, especially when it is for competition, however, this is the last show for the year and I want to give it my all (or something like that).

I used the same stowage bin technique that I did with the Tamiya 251 C. Just cut up some styrene blocks to give the impression that there is something under the tarps.


Wet tissue paper method is still my favorite.


Just need a little highlight.


I really love AFV Club. They made a nice interior that was very detailed. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the exterior
I had to use every conceivable method in the book just to get everything just right. Ugh.




The problem continued with the exterior stowage boxes . . .

What an unexpected journey Still need to tie in the front fenders with the rear. More styrene and filler to come.

I've had that same fit issue with all the half tracks that I've built Russ. It's not just AFV Club. Some dragon and Tamiya kits do it too. It's a complete pain.
Your fix appears to have done the job. Mud and grime are the great forgivers of armourers haha.

Beautiful detail, this is going to look great when it is finished. Love the rifles on the side racks they look so real.
