Could you build your stash?

Post by Steveo535 »

Hi All

I have just been sorting my stash to try to fit more kits into it and it got me thinking.

If I stopped buying kits now could I actually build all the kits in my stash. Came to the conclusion if I retire now and do nothing but build kits Could probably just do it.

So just for a bit of fun how you many years would you guys estimate you would need to build all the kits in your stash.

I’ve got about 100 car kits and bikes in the stash, I can build a car kit to a good standard in a week so I got about 2 years worth

I could probably build them... I just don't have enough space to display them!

If I live to the average of men ...84yrs...then I would have to build 14 per yr.....yeah not going to happen. It's going to be my legacy if I can find a as yet unborn grandchild who actually wants to build some.

The only teeny tiny flaw I see in this theory is that built kits generally don't stack as well as boxes... but it's probably worth a shot :th:

One of my issues trying to build my stash is not only time, but desire
I look at some kits and think ‘why the heck did I buy this”
That inspiration fire dies with time, and something new comes along so....

There was a hint of sarcasm as some folk like me store the boxes in the loft as well! But I'm sure we can all find options!

I've got a couple of those that I bought when I first got back into building but for the vast majority there's nothing in there that I don't want to build - just need the time and space.

Well, looking at my stash and build time, 364 years and 11 months...

Who knows, with the evolution of the medical profession, perhaps I can still live long enough to get them all done (?) :bash:

NOPE... NEVER.... :wtf:

It's taken 3 weeks to complete the 1/144 Su-47 sans decals. Sure that time includes working on 3 other 1/144's and a 1/72 but this is snails pace. I've got a couple of 1/32 planes that are going to need that extra detailing touch, several 1/48's and even more 1/72's including Airfix's ancient Halifax kit that is going to take a lot of cleaning up to get a decent result. And there's still more to come like a 1/48 Warhawk, MiG 29, 1/72 Foxhound, Fencer, Colt, Beagle, Badger and HP Victor ( the new Airfiix one). Then there's the eBay bids.....I need to get cracking as the kids haven't done the grandchildren thing yet.
