Hello hello

Post by onemanclapping »

Hi folks
Just a quick introduction. From Ireland and just going to get back into modelling after a long number of years out. Having followed Paul's Subaru build and some more on YouTube i have got the urge to get back into this. However last time I done some modelling it was only paint brush etc.
So the plan is to buy a couple of cheap kits to practise air brushing with as I have a lot of kits bought over the years but want to do a reasonably good job on them.
I had a lot of Tamiya AS Paints from 9 years ago or so that were in storage but I'm afraid they could be gone out of date or unusable now. Maybe someone would have some advise on this please? Also have some Zero paints from Hiroboy that were never used.

Anyway debit card has taken a bit of a hit in the last few days buying some stock from emodels.
Thanks for the add and I hope not to bother you too much asking silly questions about builds etc.

:welcome:

Regarding your old paints, I was in the same boat as you when I returned to the hobby after 30 odd years just over 3 years ago.

I had 15 or so Tamiya paints, all of them still work fine and I'm still using them :th: Providing the jar is air tight the paint will be fine, I had a couple where they'd got thicker perhaps not air tight I added thinner and bingo :th:

Only real issue was opening the screw caps, but the handy opening tool sorted that, check them you'll be amazed, I was :th:

Cheers.
Yes, most of the paints were not opened so hopefully they will still work.
Just got an email from emodels to say they dont ship paints or thinners to Ireland.
There are not many stores in Ireland that supply these.
