Ferrari 312PB, Ickx/Regazzoni, Spa 1972, 1/24.

Hi,

I would like to share with you the build of the nice MFH kit of the Ferrari 312PB Sprint Version.

Few paint job is already done.
Paint is from Zero Paint and clear coat is also ZP 2K. I used Ferrari Red, Pure White, Giallo Modena and semi gloss black.
Metallic paints are mainly from Alclad.
The kit will be almost built OOB. I will just turn few small parts and add small details.

Fantastic work Pascal, look forward to seeing more.

Is that a mini lathe in the background of some of the pics.

Could you also put your location in your profile if possible too, it always nice knowing where people are from :thumb2:

Brake fluid tanks assembled to the main body and lightly tinted.
Some wires added behind gauges and RPM meter.

here are few pics:

Still have few pics...

Fire extinguisher quickly tuned on the lathe and braided line/AN fitting/turned part glued!

2nd part of the seat is now covered with ferrari fabric.
A light correction has to be done on the upper corner of the seat to put the fabric in the right direction.
Seat will be covered of flat acrylic varnish.
Fire extinguisher cleared with Alclad light sheen.
Light work on radiators. Still need to work a bit on it...

Then paint for the second step : white before

Gold :

Unmasking :

A bit "flashy", so a light weathering is done :

Hi,

Thank you very much for all the comments!

Still working on the 312PB!
It's now time to work on the front brakes air ducts.

Original parts :
Image

Image

Opening :

Image

Enlarging :

Image

for this preliminary result :

Image

Now time to put the part upside down... Grrrrr!

Image

Bi-component :

Image

Image

Still need to re-open the air duct :

Image

the 2 sisters! :

Image

While the air ducts are drying, I have to work on the rear lights:

- First part in "white metal" :

Image

Image

Closed with another one made of clear resin :

Image

All is semi gloss black except the red and orange lights.

Well..., a long post for poor progress.
... that must be done!!

More soon!!

Well, as nothing was dry, I decided to work on the opposite side of the Ferrari :
The gearbox cooler!

I modified the MFH fittings by cutting the radiator pins and making a 0.75 hole to fit the tube I wanted to use.

Image

Image

Then, thanks to the pictures I have, I modified the end of the gearbox and install modified machined/anodized A/N fittings from RBMotion.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Connected :

Image

Image

Sorry for the poor quality pics...

More soon I hope !!

Hi,

Thanks

Work on the rear lights still going on.
After gluing the resin part on the WM part ; a light coat of Orange and Red paint.

Image

Few other light coats of red and orange and black where needed.

Image

Some finishing work is needed to reach a better result.

After the rear... Front head lights.
Yellow on the bulb to enhance the machined parts and give a bit of relief

Image

Then the glass part is glued:

Image

Image

Image

Here we are.
Better pics tomorrow

Front brake lines :

Voilà.

Hi,

Thanks Matthew!

Small progress again for today, but needed!

Few touch up paint job before the 2K.
Some Rosso Corsa ZP, cellulose thinner, small nozzle and go ... but not without masking!

...Mask on:

Image

Image

Yellow on yellow :

Image

Image

Touch up done :

Image

Mask off :

Image

... And finally, a picture less rotten than others to the rear of the car.
The lights are just laid for the purposes of the photo, which explains the misalignment and lack of electrical wiring:

Hi,

Thank you Mates!

Small update .
There are still sooooo many things to do or finish !

I started to work on the harness.
I'm not a big fan of the canvas elements typically provided in the kits or detail sets , I find the plot too visible to the scale and too rigid material.
Matter of taste to some... they are right !

So I cut thin strips of 2mm in tin foil .
Hull belt mounting points , locking system and loops were taken from the photo-etched boards and assembled.
The central locking is polished to give it a little relief. Maybe he will later be " anodized " blue.

Image

Image

The connection of the expansion tank did not seem consistent with some snapshots observed.
I removed the previous installation and decided to replace it with a "T" shaped fitting.
I used the beautiful Modeler 's fittings to do it.

Drilling to facilitate the integration of the tube :

Image

Left (or right...) side done :

Image

The set up of the turned part , equipped with two tubes :

Image

Remains to finalize the mounting " coiling " tubes correctly when connecting the side pod with the rest of the engine compartment.

I also realized a fire extinguisher from odds and ends .
I took the piece I had turned at the beginning of WIP, slightly modified and was finally fitted with a billet A/N fitting .
A small decal punched out from the "Aircraft Cockpit Closet" decal sheet is finally used to enhanced the set:

Image

The hood of the Tipo 500 is impatient ...

Image

The fire extinguisher and the expansion tank were equipped with their collars :

Image

Image

Image

First mat black coat (Model Master) on the harness :

Image

There's still lots of things to do on the harness to make it more realistic, but also to give it shape and position once it will be finally installed.

More soon.

Hi,

Thank you guys!

Small update on the 312PB :

The harness has received its shoulder markings and a mix of satin / matt varnish.
Abdominal straps are put in shape to give a little more life to this detail of the cockpit.

The extinguisher has been equipped with its spray tube and should soon reach the floor of the cockpit:
