Hello
My aim is to start building models to a high standard.
There. I’ve said it. But will I get there and what is a high standard?
I built a handful models in the 70’s when I was a small boy. I really enjoyed building them, but was always a little disappointed they were not painted, had panel gaps, glue marks, etc. All the issues a novice suffers from.
But I have always wanted to get in to modelling, only to find I don’t know how to get round the above stated issues and then get disheartened with the building the model.
The last time I had ago at building was early 2000’s during the winter months when there is nothing else to do on a night, other than watch tv repeats. My model of choice was Revell’s Lancia 037 and was really pleased with the build and basic painting. But before I could get the decals on, something fell on it and broke the front axle. I was gutted, decided to stop the work I started on Revell’s Audi Quattro Rallye and put them away until I can do this in a more professional way. That is have a dedicated bench space and maybe an air brush.
In the intervening years I have bought or received a number of rally car kits, in other words I have become a collector/hoarder of kits. One of kits I have always been looking out for in the local art shop & toy shops is the Lancia Delta S4 and it was while doing an internet search for this in June that I stumbled across Scalemates and an inbox video review by Paul-ISM.
This was the missing link I needed to be able to think about actually building some of the kits that I have collected over the years. The ISM videos by Paul have provided a great deal of knowledge on how to over come build issues and how to air brush and hopefully the forum will help when things go wrong.
I now feel confident to start building models. Once I have dedicated bench area. Bought virtually everything on Paul-ISM product list. But I have waited nearly 40 years, so a few more weeks/months won’t hurt.
Cheers
David
