Metal Earth brand Millennium Falcon

A bit of a different completed build here. My wife bought this for me some years ago and I completed most of the assembly. But at the time I had zero model tools and definitely no PE bending tools. So it was a monstrous pain. As in physically, I kept getting little punctures in my fingers trying to hand bend all the little parts. So it was filed away and frankly forgotten about and lost.

I discovered it when I was reorganizing some kits. It'd placed it in a 1:72 Trumpeter Challenger II kit box a buddy had given to me as a gift (also in a state of partial assembly). So I figured I'd go ahead and finish it.

Essentially the upper half of the body was complete. The lower half only needed the landing gear pads attached as well as a few other Greeblies here and there. Also I needed to mount the lower on the stand, mate the top and bottom halves, and assemble the port and starboard escape pods to close up the two holes in the sides after mating the top and bottom.

You'll see the steps to assemble the two escape pods. I don't know what the metal is but my calipers measure it at 0.25mm thick. And it's without question a much harder metal than the PE we're used to working with. Here's the kit manufacturer: Metal Earth Millennium Falcon. And completed kit. I'm honestly tempted to give her a paint job. The etching is deep enough that it would hold a good pin wash to bring out all the details.

That is very cool. I'd be in 2 minds about painting her too. It looks great as it is but I can understand the desire to update it to the film look.

Yea, I'm a bit torn. I do like the metal though. So of course I think, "Well I'll just build a full Falcon kit. Wow, this looks gorgeous. But holy crap, look at that price!"
