The Return of the Friday Diatribe - February 2026 - A Sentimental Journey

Post by Stokesy44 »

Coming this Friday

A rose tinted view of my near 50 year love of this hobby and of military history.

Could also be titled, 'Thanks Dad, this is all YOUR fault I'm into this stuff'
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Ah, the joys of looking back through rose tinted spectacles !

Those were the days!
Tube cement and Humbrol paint.
Airfix kits for two shillings in Woolworths (remember them?).

As Indy said, its not the years, its the mileage. And if you can remember Star Wars before it was called Episode 4 then that's a good test of age.

The first Star Wars film to hit the box office was actually Episode 4, followed by 5 and 6 back in the 70's.
After a hiatus of maybe 20 odd years or so Mr Lucas decided to make episodes 1, 2 and 3.

To follow the Star Wars saga in sequence watch 1, 2 and 3 followed by Rogue One, then watch 4, 5 and 6. One could slot in Solo along with Rogue One to see how Han first met up with Chewie. Then follow on with the films starting Daisy Ridley as Ren.
