Hobby Boss 1/35 Leopard 2A6 CAN #82458 - Afghanistan

Post by Coen »

This is my entry into the Honour Our Heros GB hosted by Storm22tpt and Norm Lajoie.
It's Hobby Boss 1/35 Leopard 2A6 CAN Kit #82458
I was going to do a Canadian CPF but it experienced technical difficulties.

These shots are curtosey of Storm22tpt via NovYank.

very cool entry, the Leo 2 is one of those sexy looking bits of kit, I'll say you will not regret leaving the thermal shroud off, though I have seen it done before where the builder used very thin rolled sheets of milliput to cover the vehicle and used scale camo netting to get the texture right....,.hey I think I just may have given myself an idea

hahahah I'm my own worse enemy hahaha

great work my friend,

Shane.

I considered using either white glue soaked tissue paper or tin foil and a specially cut tool for the holes.
I still may... Just to see if I can do it. :th:

all considering... buying The Barracuda Resin set from Black Dog is still the best way to replicated the
LATE Leo2A6M Canada used before we brought them back to Canada !

The ModelBau set is 200$ while the B.D. one is only 100$ for basically the same effect !
They both have mistakes... ONLY A.R. Rivet counters would care about !

expensive you may say !!! but... well worth your Sanity ! and all the hard work is already done !

I know this much.... I'm saving for one ! 2014 HOHCGB will feature it !

The MEXAS "uparmour" Leo1C2 Pictured above..... is also a good contender for next year HOHCGB ! one of those
Black Dog Sets is on its way to me as we speak ! can't wait to review it !

Looks awesome ! Thanks for posting good shots of it !

The T-LAV APC is... cool too! But as you found out ... hard to get a kit !
HOPE that Black Dog gets on top of it... and Delivers again !!! We need more GAVINS ...

You take care COEN C !

Here's where she's at now.
I've got the lower hull mostly finished now and it's just sitting on the hull pan. I'll glue it later once I'm ready to paint.
The main gun is finished and I temporary assembled the turret for the pictures.

The fundamentals are more familiar then doing an aircraft kit, I mean a tanks is a tank... but for the most part it's a complete change.
This piece is nothing like building WWII pieces.
There are so many bit and pieces that I can't identify that I may as well be building a bus or a jeep.
It's still very cool though and I'm learning a lot.
I'm also getting some great help from the community.

Oh there are other's out there that have a good sence of community, but they always have that undercurrent of potential hostility.
Here on ISM and the folks that I've met on YouTube I don't get that.
It's what sets it apart. :th:

I have only been following a few of the other fella's builds myself.. there are so many. 20 or more I think it was.
A great turnout.

Thanks for the comments fellas. She's near the paint stage now. I've put her aside for the day as I want to work on the PzII for the rest of the night.
Just got home after being out all day with the family.
I'm hoping to have the PzII done in a few hours. :cheers2:
