I'll be doing this GB mostly on YouTube, so I'll upload only pics on painting, weathering, and the reveal. I'll link the vids though! :D :D

A great video :thumb2: - the Cougar looks like a nice kit. I'll be watching to see how it builds up.

What I've done so far:

Hull all done except for headlights and rearview mirrors. It is shown on a Model Scene "Late Summer, Stony" grass mat.

Great products they've got, I would highly recommend 'em!!!! :thumb2: :th: One this size costs about $8-10, and you can get ones about 8x11" for around $17!

If you skip past/survive (  ) the wargaming banter at the beginning, I finish up the build with the turret. Unfortunately I won't be painting this for maybe 2-3 weeks as I have a number of projects "on-the-go" to finish up.

Thanks for watching! :D :D :D

I did the optics buy painting an undercoat of Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black and then took the extremely watery paint from the top of my bottle of X-9 Hull Red and applied a large drop on the each of the optics. The red settled down at the bottom on the sights with a nice blend to it, I'm happy how it turned out.

Once again sorry for the orangeness of the pics :(

Here's a nice example of the pre-shading; there's the same amount of light on both the top and bottom on the hull but the bottom looks darker:

So with some experimenting a blue background makes the orangeness go away. I also set the camera to "close up photos of meals and dishes" and that further improves the colour somehow

Anyways here's shots of the weathering and decalling before the dullcote which will tone it down and make the decals not shiny. The mud and dust was done with Vallejo pigments and white glue, and black paint was used for the wet mud effect. The wheels were done the same way!

I also did a light AK dark rust wash over all the weld seams to bring them out and some chipping along the frequently traversed parts of the vehicle with lightened shades of the base colour.

The exhaust was done freehand with black at 5 psi and a really small needle/nozzle setup. I did it first by masking but that looked to stark so when I went back to repaint it disaster (splatter) struck and I had to repaint the entire side of the vehicle which set me back two days but I'm happy with how it looks now  :D

With this lighting you can see the shading and optics much easier :th:

Then I did up the wheels and gave her a coat of dullcote and was about to declare victory but unfortunately the dullcote left two big splotches on the front engine access panel. I had to once again sand it down, pre-shade, and then re-spray the top colour. I dullcoted it again, this time without troubles, and then declared it done quickly before anything else could go wrong.

Here's my reveal vid and I'll have some pics up in the reveal section! :thumb2:
