Eduard 1/48 Polikarpov I-16 Type 24

Post by MakingModelsAgain »

A little Russian Pitbull of a plane with undercarriage designed by the Marque de Sade. Built OOb except for scratch-built seat harness and hatch. I also replaced the wing gun barrels with aluminium tubing and drilled out the exhaust stubs. I did try vacforming the canopy, but the pieces I made were too thin and flimsy. The IM canopy is only attached with Klear, so if I can perfect the vaforming process, I may yet replace it. :)

For Stalin! Death to Fascists!

Looks great, as only to be expected from a master craftsman such as yourself!! Quite fancy building this kit at some point but with other decals, as the 1/48 scale Polikarpov I did years ago have exactly the same markings.. :P
Hairbrush, not airbrush!!

That is fantastic Gary! Truly outstanding! If I may ask, how did you make the grass field? It is one of the best I have seen, the worn areas in particular are sublime. :th:

Gary, it turned out great... Little Poli rata :)
Green colour looks so impressively natural and well accentuated weathering makes it a real masterpiece!

Cheers,

The rat was what the nationalists called this plane in the Spanish Civil War wasnt it? Thats an excellent little build Gary . What do the decals say? Death to fascism, labour reserves for the front? Or For Stalin? lol

EDIT: heck, I didn't even notice your base from looking at the plane. That is suberb. One of the best builds I've seen :cheers2:

Nice diorama with I-16. I like the paintwork on the aircraft itself and the grass on the field.
Very nice and clean work.
