Tamiya 1/48 V-1 (Fiesler Fi103) Buzzbomb

Post by RobertA »

Got this little kit in the mail the other day and have decided to do it as a weekend build.. even though me being a day late starting it probably won't finish it until Monday at the earliest..

Image

It's been a pretty straightforward build so far, the kit don't have many parts to it, you get the V-1 and the trolley all on the same sprue:

I started with the construction of the trolley:

Having found some photo references online I decided to scratchbuild some grabhandles, made from thinly cut plastic card...

...and some pushbars, using plastic rod:

The V-1 went together very easily with few issues...

...but required a bit of filler along the top join:

...and that concludes the build progress so far.. :) More to follow...

This looks very good :) the V1 looks so much cooler than the V2.

Well, the V1 is like an unmanned aircraft.. the V2 is a rocket! And much as I don't mind rockets, I do prefer aircraft.. :)

This may yet turn out to be a weekend build after all, chances are it will be done by tomorrow.. But I'm not betting money on it..

Either way, this is what inspired me to buy (and build) the kit in the first place...

Nice one Rob :th: Had my eye on this kit for a while myself. A very simple kit but it would be a nice addition to anyones collection. I think it would be really cool to have the ramp with that kit and display it like the one in the picture you posted.

:cheers2:

Thank you gentlemen.. :) And yes, the photos was taken at Duxford, when we went there last year.. :D

Have had a slight misshap, had hoped it would be ready by now but I varnished it too soon after painting it, so some of the paint came off.. :wall: :violin: :pistols:

Still, this is how it looked before that incident..

I managed to repaint it after careful sanding to smooth out the surface.. It's decalled but I will be patient and not give it a new coat of varnish until the earliest tomorrow.. Don't want to risk the same thing happening again! :bash:
