GMC Truck. Lend-Lease Conversion.

Hi Guy's

Here's another revival of one of my old models. It's the GMC Truck with machine gun mount.
I wanted to do something quite different with it. So I looked for inspiration on google. And I found
this image:


And by the looks of it the truck will have been part of the Lend-Lease Project, where the US sold tanks and army vehicles to Russia and other allies.

My model looked like this:


So there was quite some modding to do.
I couldn't make the completely closed cabbin from scratch because of all the curves but I build closed doors and cut up an old roof to fit the model:








The cargo will consist mainly of big logs, which I will have to haul from the forrest.
And I found some T-34 wheels and some other stuff to go in the back as well.


I got some decals from my T-34 left to give it that russian accent.


I know it'll be a free interpretation but my resources are limited.

Here's a first update,

I painted the basecoat of olive green.
Didn't bother to do black first, since there is going
to be another layer after this: the winter camo.
Added the decals.
Painted the wood and the cabin hood.
And added the first layer of dark wash.

I did the winter camo, rust, dirt, and mud.









Next up: logs and luggage..

I only have have one small issue......... In the picture we see a Studebaker, what you are building is a GMC.

Woeps!!! I stand corrected! I never noticed the difference!
I bought this model over 20 years ago and didn't remember it's name when I decided to modify it.
I looked up old pictures of us trucks from ww2 and saw the picture of the Studebaker and thought that's what I had.
Well there you go. The differences between the two are subtle.
Never to old to learn.
