Cockpit instrument panel

Post by craig »

I was wondering if your kit has a decal for the instrument panel, do you have to smooth off the raised detail before applying the decal?

How I do it is to use Microscale Industries decal solutions. They have two different products, MicroSet and MicroSol.

To use these first pop the decal in water then brush on a little MicroSet where the decal is going to be placed. (Paul actually adds the MicroSet to the decal water)

Then place the decal in position as normal, the Microset will slightly soften the decal film and help to to adhere to the part. Use a wet cotton tip or damp tissue to gently press the decal down to remove any trapped air or water.

Then brush on the MicroSol, this will completely soften the decal and allow it to conform to the shape of the plastic. At this stage the decal will wrinkle and look like its bubbling up, DO NOT PANIC!! and don't for the love of god be tempted to touch it. As the decal dries it will smooth out and settle down into the recesses in the plastic. If necessary, once dry, you can reapply the Microset again to get any tricky areas.

I use the solutions for all of my decals. Hope this helps.
