Tamiya 1/48 Nakajima A6M2N Type 2 Fighter 'Rufe'

Post by rodrant »

Hi , I make this in the interval between the build of the WW1 Mark IV Diorama for the WWI SiG and my Vietnam Build for the GB . Just to release the Stress Build :P .

Well I buy this kit some weeks ago and it is a very nice Kit , an Old one from Tamiya , the instructions are almost a do it yourself build , but has very nice color schemes of the planes made by Mr R.Watanabe that is known very well for his Books and ilustrations about Imperial japonese Navy Air Force and both for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force

The instructions ...Old type ...nothing to do with the actual ones

Well , the build was very nice , none or only minor gaps to fill .Decals were a surprise , very nice and no Rip off , used only the Tamiya Decal solution , the Mark Fit Strong . Didn't do the Pre-Shading . Used Tamia Weathering master to do the rust spots and the Soot , some Tamiya Enamel Pannel very diluted to apply in Pilot figure , For the Dio use some decoration Sand and stones (the ones to be used in Plants ) , some Wood stickers to the ramp glued with white glue and weathered with AK Wash for wood , Green stuff fronm Nooch , the Palm tree is from Andrea , it is in Metal and the leaves are PE . The drums are from a Tamiya Acessories set . The water is Vallejo Still Water .Hope you like the Build !

Sort of stuff I aspire to. Love the rust on the float.
There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots.

Nice work on this. I always appreciate when guys put in an effort on the pilot as well. The Zero is a fun model to build. The paint scheme is relatively simple but fun to pull off. Did you use decals for the circles or did you paint them? They look painted to me. So great job all around.

Hi , thank you for comment Strawnobi , it was very fun to paint the pilot also , On the Plane I could overpainted in Green as it was their late paint scheme, even I'm thinking to make another in future doing this overpainted scheme as I like a lot the Japonese planes , but decided to leve this as the initial color , the IJN Grey Green, honestly it was more easy to paint and this was a ,.let's say, quick build .
The Circles (they are called Hinomarus) are decals , didn't paint them , for painting I use Tamiya Can spray and use also tamiya Gloss TS-13 before placing the decals and weathering then A Tamiya Mate Coat TS - 80 , both are in Spray Cans and always have a very good result using them , when using Tamiya AS colors .
