Second coat.

Managed to reduce some of the wobbly lines. Possibly only one more coat required then some other little fiddly bits still to paint, then a clear coat before the decals.

Slow progress at the moment.

Third coat of the brown applied, that’ll be enough. Also completed the bombs. I still need to do some red on the edges of the wheel well doors then I’ll throw down some clear coat before the decals. Then on to the weathering.

That third coat of brown definitely did the trick - the contrast between the two camo colours looks great.

And that's some nice detailing on the bomb load too.

It's all coming along really nicely, mate :th:

Looking good sir! I saw a pic of the actually bird in flight the other day. I gotta agree with you, the wrap around paint job looks weird in this pattern.

Finished painting and started rubbing back the fuselage. Because the panel lines are raised a very very light sanding has highlighted them. Wasn’t sure how it would look but it seems be to ok.

Still a few more touch ups required here and there.

I’ll give the bird a matte clear coat and tackle the decals this evening.

Thanks for looking in, thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers all.

Been following this and how it's coming together. I've been so curious about how the canopy is going to look once you remove the masking tape. I don't know why , but I'm always checking to see if your at that stage. No patience I guess :)

TBH Digger, removing the masking tape on the canopy will be the very last thing to do. I have a strong feeling however that paint has gotten inside the canopy. The consistency of the brown paint was quite watery, and the two sections of the canopy did not match perfectly. Hopefully I’m wrong but I won’t know until the big reveal!

The removal of canopy masking is always one of those "hold your breath" moments for me too!

The rub back on the panel lines has given that a nicely beaten up look.
Cheers, Neil

Cheers fellas.

Clear coat went down yesterday and really smoothed out some less than perfect brush marks.
Decals tonight.

Calling the A7 done.

Canopy isn’t the best, a bit messy and as suspected paint had seeped under the masking.
I cleaned it up as best I could with thinners.

I’m happy with the rest. Weathering came up ok and the bird looks nice and beaten up.
Thank for looking in folks.
